Sama Dubai Completes Casting of First Raft for 'Dubai Towers - Doha'
More than 840 tonnes of reinforced steel and 2,400 cubic meters used

Dubai-UAE: 29 October, 2007 - Sama Dubai, the international real estate investment and development arm of Dubai Holding, announced today the completion of casting of the first basement raft slab for its landmark 'Dubai Towers - Doha' project.

Spread over an area of 12,000 square meters, the construction of the basement raft slab is a very critical process for the design of the tower as it stabilises the tower's shape and serves as the platform for the structure. The raft is scheduled to be completed by November 2007.

Casting of the first of six pours for the raft took 24 hours and up to 35 truck mixers were used to form a pipeline of concrete between the batching plant and the site. The volume of concrete poured for the first raft was over 2,400 cubic meters and more than 840 tonnes of reinforced steel were used in the process.

Farhan Faraidooni, Executive Chairman, Sama Dubai said: "As work on 'Dubai Towers - Doha' continues, we will maintain our focus on delivering high quality real-estate products and services that goes along with our vision and commitment toward the local community".

Slated for completion in mid-2010, 'Dubai Towers - Doha' will feature offices, serviced and unfurnished apartments, an upscale retail shopping boulevard, a luxury boutique hotel incorporating a number of world class amenities.
