Sama Dubai Organises Blood Donation Drive in aid of Thalassemia patients

Dubai: 03 June, 2007 - Sama Dubai, the international real estate investment and development arm of Dubai Holding, organised a one-day blood donation campaign today for its employees in association with Al Wasl Hospital. Held at Dubai Healthcare City, more than 50 Sama Dubai volunteers donated blood as part of the company´s corporate social responsibility, the donated blood will go towards helping Thalassemia patients as well as others in need of blood. By organizing the campaign, Sama Dubai aims to cooperate with healthcare organizations to help meet the continuous need for blood supplies at hospitals and blood banks. Sama Dubai is keen on fulfilling its commitment to the community in all aspects of life including healthcare. The company hopes to encourage other corporations to come forward and assist hospitals in this cause. The campaign received an excellent response from Sama Dubai´s employees Blood transfusion is a vital aspect to combating Thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder that affects a person's ability to produce haemoglobin, resulting in severe anemia. With one in twelve UAE Nationals suffering from the disease, a blood transfusion is required every two to three weeks.
